Thank you for your interest in being a part of Homeday!
Here is the small assignment for you to showcase your skills! It consists of two parts: photoselection and retouching. Please read and follow the instructions carefully.
Photoselection consists of answering a set of questions about the photoshoot (for example, if the photos correspond to the photograper’s brief, if all the necessary photos are present, they are in the correct format etc) and then selecting a set of photos according to the client’s requirements
Inside the “photoselection” folder you will find a file with the client’s requirements: photoselection.pdf. It contains the questions you have to answer about the photoshoot and a list of photos, that have to be selected
Open the file in editing mode: you can use the standard Previewer on a Mac or Adobe Acrobat on both Mac and PC. Fill in every question while reviewing the photos. Don’t forget to save the file when you are done
At the bottom of the pdf file you will find a table, that lists the items, that have to be selected (for example 5 exteriors, 2 views, 2 photos of each room, 1 walkthrough video etc.) Select a set of photos (and videos if required) according to this table
Make sure that you select enough photos for each category, and that the photos you have selected give a good overview of the property. For example, if you choose 2 photos per room, they show the room from 2 different angles, so that the viewer gets a good idea of the space. Do not edit them
Please note, that each photo has 3 bracketing steps, and they all have to be included into your selection
Submit your selection of RAW files and the filled in form as a PDF
Retouching
Inside the retouching folder you will find a set of RAW photos to edit: exteriors, interiors, food and portrait. Make sure to edit all of them
Edit:
Remove lens distortion and chromatic abberrations
For interiors and exteriors straighten all the vertical lines
Ensure the natural white balance: white areas have to be neutral white
Photo with both warm and cold light has to be edited for the light to be neutral (but do not desaturate any areas completely, all the colours have to look natural)
Correct the exposure: no black, overexposed or high noise areas
Remove electrical cables, personal belongings or trash bins
Blur car plates and faces (including faces on photos and paintings)
Replace the sky in exteriors with clouds, please use our sky library here
Merge the HDR photo, cleanup all the glitches, ghosts and high noise spots which occur during the merging. Do not edit the bracketing steps separately!
Do not crop the photos
Submit:
Resize all the photos as JPG, 5730x3820, 300 DPI, sRGB
For the HRD photo also submit a merged HDR file as a DNG and an unmerged PSD file with the corrections
